Eduqas GCSE Latin

The Eduqas Latin GCSE  is especially well suited to schools following the Cambridge Latin Course

Course Overview

Component 1: Latin Language

Worth 50% of the qualification and assessed with a 1 hour 30 minute exam. 


Component 2: Latin Literature and Sources

Worth 30% of the qualification and assessed with a 1 hour 15 minute open book exam.

Students study a prescribed selection of Latin literature, both prose and verse, on a theme, together with prescribed ancient source materials. A choice of two themes is offered.

EITHER

Component 3A: Latin Literature (Narratives)

Worth 20% of the qualification and assessed with a 1 hour open book exam.

Students study a prescription of Latin literature which forms a narrative, accompanied by adjacent passages in English. A choice between two narratives (either the verse or prose option) is offered.

OR

Component 3B: Roman Civilisation

Worth 20% of the qualification and assessed with a 1 hour exam.

Students study one of the two prescribed topics of Roman Civilisation.
